Florida Keys Dive Trip
Coming Soon! Call for details!
We will be staying at the Key Lantern Motel in Islamorada and diving with Key Dives at Bud n’ Mary’s Marina. This is going to be a fun trip. Lots of good diving and a good variety of wrecks and reefs.
We will drive down Friday evening after work. On Saturday morning we will dive the Eagle, a 268′ freighter sunk in 1985. The superstructure starts at 75′ and remains generally intact resting at a depth of 110′. The afternoon and night dive will be on Alligator Reef which displays the spurs and grooves coursing down a moderate slope as well as more isolated coral heads. It is especially noted for it’s size, it’s deep ravines and the intricate patterned coral crevices.
Our first dive Sunday morning will be in the wreck of the Bibb, a 327′ coast guard cutter. She is turned over and lies on her starboard side. The second dive will be on the upright Duane, which is the twin sister of the Bibb. Both ships were sunk in 1987. Our diving depths will range from 90′ to 130′.
SPECIAL: If you would like to take the deep diver specialty while on this trip, we will reduce the price of the specialty from $100.00 down to $80.00. Nice way to enjoy some great diving and add a specialty to your certifications at the same time.
(you must be at least Advance Open Water certified to take the Wreck specialty.)

LITTLE CAYMAN BEACH RESORT MAY 31st – JUNE 7thOnly 3 slots left!!!
Nestled in the calm, turquoise waters of the western Caribbean, lie the peaceful Cayman Islands. Blessed with the sun-kissed beaches and waters teeming with fish flecked with gold, the Cayman Islands offer some of the best diving and snorkeling in the world. Little Cayman is the least developed of the Cayman trio. With a resident population of less than 170, most of Little Cayman remains uninhabited. Only 10 miles long and a mile wide, there are miles of untouched tropical wilderness where shy iguanas and rare birds outnumber humans.
On Little Cayman, diving – especially on famous Bloody Bay Wall and Jackson Point – is the main attraction. Colorful coral gardens, wavering sea plumes and exotic tropical fish thrive among more than 50 unique dive sites.
Grouper, silversides, manta rays, and eagle rays, the Meadows dive site has an exciting parade of marine animals day and night. This dramatic drop-off is highlighted with large Stovepipe Sponges, a thick growth of gorgonians and the wall’s signature Strawberry Vase Sponges.
Marilyn’s Cut is home to Ben, the Nassau Grouper. Ben can usually be found hanging out near a Giant Barrel Sponge. His large size and friendly demeanor make him very popular with divers – but photographers may have trouble keeping him away from the camera lens!

South Eluthera (Bahamas)
Date Forthcoming
From D.J.’s desk…
I know many of you think I have a neat job, but it is HARD work! We have been looking for a lower cost, economy place to send you folks for dive trips. So Edith said, “D.J., I want you to go and find a closer place to dive for our customers”. So I say, “But Edith, do I really have to go to some beautiful, exotic place and dive….again?! Sheesh, I get all of the hard jobs!!!” But who am I to argue?
That’s how I ended up on the south end of Eluthera Island in the Bahamas. Here’s what I found! In Exuma Sound, the southeast corner of Eluthera, I did 6 of the best dives I have ever done in the Bahamas. The diving here rivaled the diving in Little Cayman and Cozumel. The water was as clear as it gets. (100′ of vis +) The walls are dramatic and varied. Shallow dives were on extremely healthy reefs loaded with sea life. Speaking of sea life, Lion fish were everywhere; more than I have ever seen in the Pacific. (They’re not supposed to be in the Atlantic at all!) There were very dramatic swim-throughs that came out on the walls and a very curious place called Boiling hole sitting in 30′ of water. It’s a large hole in the reef that goes down another 30′ with an out-flow of water so strong that it nearly pushes you to the surface! It’s a thrill!
The dive operation, Captain and Dive Masters are attentive and very safety oriented and the boat is an excellent vessel. In addition, there were no other dive operations around us so we had the entire ocean to ourselves. The only thing better then the diving was where we will be staying. Rose’s resort is by far the best small resort I have ever visited. (Only 5 rooms). The cabana are quant, spacious mini-apartments with kitchens. Their Flagrant Bahamian style is unique. Inside you find; spotless clean rooms with wonderful decor, windows everywhere and A/C if you need it.
Outside is even better, your room sits on a hill over-looking the pink sand Eluthera is famous for. The beach below you stretches out of sight with no one on it. Rose, owner of the resort, is an outstanding cook. She hasn’t lost her Bahamian flavoring touch but if you need a special meal, she loves to please. Because of the tight trip schedule and near isolation of the area, I would suggest purchasing a meal plan with Rose – trust me, you’ll LOVE her food.
I’ve save the best for last. The most exciting thing about this trip is a dive called “The Current Cut“. Weather permitting, we will head up to the northern part of the island to experience this dive at some point during the week. Here’s what this dive is like…..You’re boat works hard to move through a narrow cut between two islands. As if moving through a giant funnel, the current can reach speeds of up to 12 knots. You are dropped up current in the tide as it attempts to get through the cut. The water is a clear 40 to 60 feet deep and you can feel your speed slowly begin to increase. Soon you see the seafloor racing below you! Ahead, you’ll see an arch appear and you’ll steer yourself toward it and you’ll be sucked through and out the other side. Then you’ll see a ledge below you and you’ll duck in behind it, out of the current. You’ll then notice fish, large and small, will grudgingly make room for you in this nice little resting spot. When you’re ready – ZIP – you’ll be off again! Finally, you’ll surface after things have calmed down and realize that only 12 minutes have passed. Grinning ear to ear, you’ll climb back onto the boat and feel the excitiment build because you’ll get 2 more trips through The Current Cut!!!
Join the fun!!! Come with us to Eluthera. Sign up early, this trip will sell out quick!!!
Price: $2349.00 Includes – Airfare, Dives, Trip to the Current Cut, Lodging and a Cave Tour
(Meal plans availible)
