Anse Chastenet
We were sailing the Eastern Caribbean aboard our Sailboat and in a part of the world that is filled with natural beauty we’ve discovered that this part of St. Lucia, where Anse Chastenet is situated, is undoubtedly the most beautiful. Predominate are the Pitons, Petit Piton and Gros Piton, the signature landmarks of St. Lucia.
Diving in the Eastern Caribbean can be spotty. Not every stretch of coastline offers interesting underwater scenery and there are some who hesitate to regard the Eastern Caribbean as a suitable diving destination, but if you search long enough, you will find places where the diving is world class. Certainly Saba, Dominica, and the British Virgin Islands are well known. A place not popular amongst North Americans is the Cousteau National Park on Guadeloupe which is superb. However when we first saw the diving at Anse Chastenet we knew that this would be the place we would return and bring others to share the experience with. Dive travel experts rate Anse Chastenet world class and we do also. It’s our favorite place for diving in the Eastern Caribbean. Great credit must be given to the St. Lucians for their tireless efforts to preserve the beauty of this place. You can learn of their conservation efforts by visiting the SMMA website.
We cannot say that we’ve experienced every dive operation in the Eastern Caribbean, but we’ve been diving with quite a few. Some were not so good and others were quite good. We have to say that our best experience during our voyage was with Scuba St. Lucia at Anse Chastenet. This is the other reason we chose Anse Chastenet to return with a group. Spirited, friendly, safety conscience, native St. Lucian divemasters enhance the experience of diving these beautiful reefs.
With many dive resorts the accommodations are described as “comfortable” and indeed most are. At Anse Chastenet the accommodations are far more than that. They are luxurious. Anse Chastenet has been rated as one of the most romantic destinations on earth.
Enough of this verbal rambling. Linda and I recently took a very special group of people to Anse Chastenet to experience the diving, the amenities, and the island of St. Lucia. Among our group were very avid photographers so scroll on to see the results of their efforts.
